Coronado is a coastal resort area located only 80 km away from Panama City, and has long been a location of interest for both Panamanians and those from northern nations who are considering a vacation or retirement home.
Coronado was the first resort area developed in Panama, and is home to one of Latin America’s finest golf courses, the 18-hole, par-72, 7,092-yard championship Coronada Golf Course designed and created by George and Tom Fazio. In addition to providing an exceptional golf experience, the course features a beautiful variety of mature tropical trees – including palms, rubber, teak, acacia, and mango – that line the fairways.
Coronado also has an excellent equestrian club, supermarkets open 24/7, medical center, veterinary, drugstores, gardening stores, two shopping malls, restaurants varying from fine and casual dining places to fast-food restaurants, banks and other amenities.
The beach in Coronado and the beach towns that surround it are a mixture of white and volcanic sand, and the paths around the beaches go for miles. During the week, it is possible to have long walks on the beach completely on your own.
In addition to its beachside location, Coronado is also just 30 minutes away from the Anton Valley, known for its exceptional hiking or “trekking” paths. Aside from trekking, there are many other activities and attractions that you can enjoy in the Anton Valley, including the “El Níspero” zoo, the hot springs, the arts and crafts market, the Valley Museum, the petroglyphs at La Pintada, the “Las Mozas” and “El Macho” waterfalls and various archaeological sites.
